ZERO WASTE CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS

ZERO WASTE CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS

Christmas is such a wonderful time of year and its so lovely to buys lots of gifts for our friends and loved ones. In the UK alone an extra 30% of waste is generated by UK households every Christmas, so this year the team at Love Ocean have created a list of zero waste gift ideas.

1. Adopt a whale

For any marine life of ocean loving friends and family you could adopt them a whale with our charity partner Whale & Dolphin Conservation WDC. Your gift will include a welcome pack with the personal details and location of the whale they have adopted along with a monthly update email on their whale from the WDC team of conservationists.

 2. Give the gift of nature

Plants are such a great gift for Christmas you can select a favourite colour or even by name to personalise buy potted and then pop into nice pot. We like this Nettleton pot from Garden Trading. Check out the Sustainable Plant Store for a wide selection of colours and varieties.

For friends and family with a bigger garden a tree is a truly sustainable gift that will last for many years to come we love Ecotree

3. Buy an experience they will love or you can share together

We don't always have to buy tangible gifts for Christmas, experiences are such a thoughtful gift and something that can be shared too. We love a spa day gift at our favourite Hampshire haunt the Limewood Hotel.

4. Vintage gifting

Charity and vintage shops are such gift treasure troves, giving the gift of some vintage clothing or a second hand item they will cherish, is something packed with time and thought. It's so easy to hit the buy button on-line but so much more rewarding to spend time and effort seeking hidden treasures they will love, plus who doesn't love a browse in a vintage shop - go on treat yourself.

5. Handmade gifting

I know, I know time is tight but believe me if you want to win them over this Christmas carve out an afternoon to tap into your inner Mary Berry. We love this Spiced Christmas Cookie recipe or how about a batch of Mary Berry Christmas chutney
